Create and maintain an effective and efficiently operating parking auxiliary including oversight of long and short term maintenance and repairs. Create and maintain an effective and efficiently operating campus shuttle auxiliary including oversight of long and short term maintenance and repairs.*Develop, promulgate, administer, and evaluate policies and procedures for the Public Safety Unit, Transportation and Parking Services; to provide optimum levels of safety and security for members and visitors of the university community; to ensure that policies and procedures reflect new case law, legislation, and trends in campus public safety. Collaborate and consult with university administrators to ensure that policies and procedures are compatible and consistent with the university mission. Lead Public Safety unit to achieving CALEA standards for Law Enforcement Agency Accreditation.*Perform appropriate budgetary fiscal oversight for the University Police (i.e., funded by University Educational and General unrestricted budget). Where appropriate, identify and develop ancillary revenue-generation activities in support of the University Police efforts and activities. Develop sustainable financial model for Parking Services and Campus Shuttle (self-supporting auxiliaries) including delivery of appropriate services to the right audiences priced appropriately. Provide necessary daily oversight, in-person management, and attention to ensure all operations achieve positive year end balances. Utilize financial and management expertise elsewhere in division as deemed necessary to achieve necessary outcomes.*Serve as liaison for the University with other local, state, and federal law enforcement and criminal justice agencies; develop mutual aid agreements, procedures, and standards.*Prepare reports and studies of Police Department activities, statistics, and expenditures for executive officers, the Board of Trustees, university departments, the media, and other interested community members.*Serve on Campus Police Advisory Committee and various ad hoc committees.This list of essential duties, tasks and responsibilities is not all-inclusive; individual will perform other related duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills or Abilities*Knowledge of Federal, State, County, and City laws and regulations pertaining to law enforcement*Knowledge of police leadership and management*Ability to work cooperatively with or in support of the efforts of Human Resources, the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Internal Audit, and the Dean of Students Office* Experience in managing in a unionized work environment*Strong team building skills*Strong decision making skills particularly during times of emotional stress*Ability to demonstrate self-direction and self-motivation*Ability demonstrate physical and psychological fitness* Excellent communication skills,*Excellent public relations, organizational and interpersonal skills*Highest level of personal integrity, *Knowledge of law enforcement procedures and methods including policing in campus community setting*Knowledge of classification of crimes/incidents; knowledge of police terminology; evidence of ability to operate police equipment and weapons*Knowledge of Clery Act reporting requirements *Ability to operate personal computer*Knowledge and familiarity with the accreditation process for Law Enforcement Agencies*Financial management, budget oversight and strategic planning skillsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, or closely related field required; Master's degree in the above disciplines and/or completion of advanced training such as FBI National Academy or other equivalent executive level training preferred. Five to seven years progressively responsible experience with a university or other public safety department. Successful candidate must authorize and pass a criminal and credit background check, psychological and physical fitness evaluation.
