Essential Functions

  • Serves as Deputy Chief of Specialized Units.
  • Serves as full-line supervisor.
  • Coordinates, controls, and executes through supervision of subordinate staff individual and large-scale compliance checks on parolees throughout the state.
  • Serves as an Agency spokesperson, in the absence of the Chief of Parole
  • Participates in conducting public relations activities in the community representing the Chief of Parole and Agency Director.
  • Serves as principal policy administrator, developing and implementing policies and procedures affecting the Specialized Units for the Parole Division.
  • Participates in budget planning for the Parole Division Specialized Unit.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college with course work in law enforcement, criminology, penology, or a related field.
  • Requires four (4) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in a law enforcement public or private organization, a correctional facility, or related field.
  • Requires three (3) years supervisory experience in a public law enforcement or private law enforcement organization, a correctional facility, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience receiving Intelligence from a law enforcement entity and acting on the Intelligence received.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience organizing compliance checks.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience addressing subpoenas.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with fugitives in apprehension.
  • Prefers at least one (1) year of experience in addressing extraditions.
  • Prefers at least (1) year of experience developing and implementing policy for a law enforcement entity.
  • Prefers knowledge of the Interstate Compact Offender Computer Tracking System (COTS).
  • Prefers at least one (1) year experience working with Sex Offenders.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with confidential cases.
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of experience working with various law enforcement agencies.

Employment Conditions

  • Requires possession of a Firearm Ownership Identification Card.
  • Requires ability to carry a firearm.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate. Requires appropriate, valid driver's license.
  • Requires the ability to be on-call.
  • Requires use of agency-supplied technology.
  • Certain provisions of the revolving door restrictions contained in 5 ILCS 430/5-45 apply to this position. As a result, the employee should be aware that if offered non- State employment during state employment or within one year immediately after ending State employment, the employee shall, prior to accepting any such non- State employment offer, notify the Office of the Executive Inspector General for the Agencies of the Illinois Governor (OEIG) or may be subject to a fine.
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest. The Illinois Governmental Ethics Act (5 ILCS 420/4A et seq.) requires certain state officials and employees to file annual Statements of Economic Interest with the Office of the Secretary of State that will be made available for examination and copying by the public. All employees required to file a Statement of Economic Interest are also required to file the Supplemental Statement of Economic Interest with the Executive Ethics Commission. (See Executive Order 15-09) Fines and penalties apply to untimely filings.
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. The use of unauthorized drugs by an employee, regardless of position held, is prohibited.
