Must be 21-35 years old (or 20 years old with 2-year Law Enforcement degree). Must have high school diploma or equivalent and live within 30 mile radius of Silvis. Must be able to pass written exam, physical agility test, background check, physical and psychological exams, and complete all certifications and qualifications as outlined in the Civil Service rules. Non-certified cadets will attend 16-week Police Academy with full pay and benefits.

18-month probationary period / 2-year contract.

Testing will be held at the Silvis Police Department, 600 Illini Drive, Silvis, IL, on Saturday, July 12, 2025. Physical testing begins at 9:00 a.m. Written testing will commence at 1:00 p.m. in the Silvis Police Department Community Room. Bring state-issued photo ID.

Lateral entries: Prior full-time certified law enforcement officers in good standing with the Illinois Law Enforcement Training & Standards Board may qualify for a testing waiver.

Completed applications should be returned to the Silvis Police Department by 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 7th, 2025.
