Job Description:
Franklin & Marshall College is recruiting for a full-time Public Safety Police Sergeant.
Job Details:
Location : F&M Campus - Lancaster, PA
Classification : Full-time, Exempt
Schedule : Overnight shift. 12 hour shift, with every other weekend off.
Reports to : Public Safety Police Lieutenant
Department : Department of Public Safety
Compensation commensurate with experience : $54,000 - $60,000
Job Description:
The Public Safety Sergeant will effectively plan, organize, supervise and evaluate the work of the Public Safety Police Officers, Security Officer and Communication Technician assigned to their shift.
Essential Functions:
Provide leadership and supervision of those who are assigned to their shifts; assign daily tasks and provide instruction in the completion of tasks, and follow-up to assure proper completion of tasks.
Respond to emergencies and incidents in a timely manner and determine appropriate course of action; keep the Director and Lieutenant apprised of any incidents that may cause attention or alarm.
Evaluate the performance of those assigned to their squads and make any recommendations that may be needed for improvement.
Review reports to assure accuracy and compliance with accreditation requirements. Make sure the daily logs are completed and forwarded.
All other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
At least 4 years of law enforcement experience.
Prior supervisory experience.
Title 53 (Act 120) Municipal Police Officer Training Certification or equivalent .
Act 235 Certification.
Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication skills.
Proficiency in Google Suite Products (Docs, Gmail, Sheets, Slides, Drive)
Evidence of a commitment to community & belonging.
Valid driver's license.
Successful interview.
Successful completion of background checks.
Preferred Qualifications:
Associate's Degree.
5 or more years of experience in Law Enforcement.
Prior experience in a Higher Education setting.
Additional Information:
Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of reference checks, a criminal background verification, and verification of credentials. The College will coordinate these verifications.
