Under the direction of the Chief of Investigations, the Deputy Chief supervises and leads the activities of the Investigations Division of the Attorney General's office and assists in the administration of the Investigations Division by directing case assignments, investigator evaluations, and supervising staff.
The Deputy Chief reviews case files to determine violations of criminal statutes; interviews victims and witnesses; analyzes documents; writes reports to be presented to the court; arrests and interrogates offenders; provides testimony before a grand jury and at trial; provides assistance to various law enforcement and government agencies; provides on-the-job training and supervision of field operations, including but not limited to, surveillance, undercover activities, wiretaps, search warrants and arrests.

The ICAC commander is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the Illinois ICAC Task Force including supervision of the ICAC Grant, ongoing investigations, selection of investigative targets, and a team of Digital Forensic Examiners, Intelligence Analysts, Internet Safety Specialists, and Directors. Additional management roles and responsibilities include the completion of grant documents, on scene supervision during tactical enforcement activities, development and delivery of high tech training, and networking with ICAC affiliates.

Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to serving as a Search Warrant Team Leader, preparing and managing Statewide/Out of State ICAC Training, preparing annual and semi-annual Federal DOJ/OJJDP grant reports, maintaining and preparing various reports and purchase documents, and they must attend all National ICAC Commander Meetings.

A minimum of a bachelor's degree in law enforcement, criminal justice or related field and 10 years of experience as a sworn officer of a local, state, federal law enforcement agency , including experience in criminal investigative or law enforcement work, plus 4 years experience in a supervisory or administrative capacity of law enforcement personnel or an equivalent combination of training and experience is required. The Deputy Chief/ICAC Task Force Commander must pass the OJJDP (U.S. DOJ) Federal Financial Grant Training Classes.

This position requires prior experience in budget creation, purchasing, and technical skills that include: knowledge of reactive and proactive ICAC cases; legal considerations for ICAC investigations and affiliated agencies; and knowledge of computer forensic and triage. Candidate must be proficient with the ICAC IDS, ICACCOPS, and FVTC training systems. Travel is a requirement for this position, Attendance and the ability to create and maintain positive and collaborative working relationships with other employees, outside agencies and the general public are essential.
