SALARY: See Position Description OPENING DATE: 04/13/2024 CLOSING DATE: 04/27/2024 11:59 PM DESCRIPTION: The Criminal Investigation Bureau is currently accepting applications with resumes from officers who are interested in the position of Robbery/Homicide Detective . The purpose of this specialty opening is to establish an eligibility list for any future vacancies. Officers interested in the position must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience as a sworn police officer, and be off of probation. Applicants must have a minimum of one (1) year as a Detective in the Criminal Investigation Bureau. This is a Detective who has completed criminal investigation as a primary job. Lateral police officers must have one (1) year with the Chandler Police Department and two (2) years of experience as a Detective (with previous agency), and their primary responsibilities were to investigate criminal investigations. Duties associated with the assignment include, but are not limited to, investigation and follow-up of crimes against persons such as homicide, officer involved shootings, robbery, death investigations and life-threatening assaults. This position has a 4-10 schedule, on-call duties, clothing allowance, and overtime pay as required and no holiday pay. There will be a 5% specialty pay increase associated with this unit. Officers interested in the position should possess excellent investigation and report writing skills, above average organizational skills, need limited supervision, and be self-motivated. Specialty assignment applications, resumes, and past performance evaluations will be reviewed. A practical exercise as well as an oral board will be conducted, please plan accordingly. An eligibility list will be established and will be effective for one year. If the testing process takes place outside the employee's normal work hours then employees may coordinate with immediate supervisors to flex time to attend their interview/test. Overtime or comp time must be pre-approved and will only be allowed under exceptional circumstances. Officers interested in the position should complete an Application for Special Assignment as well as a resume detailing their training and experience. All applications and resumes are due by April 27th th at midnight.
