The City of Great Bend is currently recruiting Non-Certified and Certified police officers to fill Police Officer 1 & 2 positions.

The Great Bend Police Department is always looking for qualified applicants who want to join us in our mission of, Providing our community with professional and dedicated law enforcement services. Our department and town are small enough that you won't get "lost in the crowd", but large enough to offer officers various opportunities. We are a progressive department that is always exploring new ways to better serve our community. Minimum Requirements

At least 21 years of age

High School Diploma/GED equivalent

Valid Driver's License

No Felony or Domestic Violence charges

Must be able to obtain certification through KLETC (Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center)

Position Salary and Benefits

Police Officer 1:

Non-Certified Pay: Starting at $21.60 per hour.

Built in overtime pay with opportunities for more.

Uniforms and Equipment provided by the department.

Must become KLETC certified within the first year of employment.

Vacation, Sick leave, Personal leave and Bereavement leave.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield Health Plan, with an optional Health Savings Account.

401 K and Voluntary 457 Retirement/Deferred Payment Plan.

Uniformed First Responder Profit Sharing Retirement Plan.

Police Officer 2:

Certified Pay: $22.22 - $32.53 per hour (dependent on experience and qualifications)

Built in overtime pay with opportunities for more.

Uniforms and Equipment provided by the department.

Vacation, Sick leave, Personal leave and Bereavement leave.

Blue Cross & Blue Shield Health Plan, with an optional Health Savings Account.

401 K and Voluntary 457 Retirement/Deferred Payment Plan.

Work Schedule

Bi-monthly Night/Day rotations, where officers work 12-hour shifts for 7 days in a 14-day period. Including every other 3-day weekend off.
