Police Officer, Entry-Level Job Type: Full Time Newark, OH Newark Police Department Salary: $71,407.23 - $88,505.87 Annually Closing Date: 12/31/2026 Essential Functions: Diligently and thoroughly patrol assigned area. Recognizing and observing suspicious behaviors of persons which may indicate involvement in criminal offenses. Observing traffic flow for violations and issuing warnings or citations to violators in an effort to reduce auto accidents and traffic congestion. Prioritize and promptly respond in a safe manner to all dispatched calls in the City and requests for assistance from other jurisdictions. Complete all special projects, assignments and investigations as assigned. Perform all duties in a professional, accurate, and timely manner. Maintain an acceptable level of competence, professionalism, and ability to ensure duties are performed as outlined in this job description. Requirements: Must be 21 years of age and have a valid State of Ohio driver's license. Must be able to pass Civil Service Commission written and physical agility testing. Must reside within, or adjacent to, Licking County as a condition of employment. Problem Solving: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical and legal instructions in mathematical, written, or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
