$39,309.00- $58,964.00 DOE

JOB SUMMARY

In coordination with the Graffiti Program Supervisor, the Graffiti Technician locates and removes graffiti throughout Salt Lake County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

One (1) year of experience in custodial or construction maintenance environment.

A valid Driver's License accepted by the State of Utah is required at the time of hire. A valid Driver's License issued by the State of Utah must be obtained within six (6) months of hire to operate a County vehicle.

Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Works with Graffiti Program Supervisor to respond to requests for graffiti removal.
  • When graffiti is located, identifies and contacts property owner. Obtains permission from private property owners when needed prior to removing the graffiti.
  • Determines how best to clean up the damage caused by the graffiti. Removes or covers the graffiti.
  • Keeps a log of addresses where graffiti has been located and removed.
  • Actively searches out graffiti for removal.
  • Picks up and transports paint and graffiti removal supplies to and from the office to the graffiti site.
  • Hand delivers an initial letter to the property owner informing them of the County ordinance and requesting the removal of graffiti.
  • Hand delivers a second letter and takes a picture of the damage if the property owner has not complied with the County ordinance to remove the graffiti.
  • Inspects the property a third time and refers to the Law Enforcement Bureau (LEB) if graffiti has not been removed.
  • Assists Graffiti Program Supervisor with public relations and other educational activities. This includes attending training courses and other meetings as needed.
  • Submits a variety of required written reports including a daily work site report.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of hazardous chemicals/solvents that are used for the removal of graffiti.
  • Effective communication and public relations techniques.
  • Work with computer software related to job specific duties

Skills and Abilities to:

  • Work independently under minimal supervision
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Professional customer service etiquette

WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires extensive physical labor; lifting, pushing, pulling, and carrying objects over 50 pounds (occasionally up to 100 pounds with some assistance): kneeling, bending, sitting and standing. The work involves exposure to extreme weather conditions, dirt, dust, heat, cold, chemicals, smoke, and/or loud noises.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING THIS POSITION

Work hours are normal business hours Monday through Friday with weekends and county approved holidays off
