Help

Serves as Deputy Chief of the Psychology Services Department a Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Federal Correctional Complex, having least fourteen line staff.

Department plays a major role in providing and coordining a complete range of psychological services for the entire mental health program the facility.

Major duties and responsibilities include administrion and program development, psychological assessment and evaluion, training and supervision, research/program evaluion, as well as faciliting a wide variety of professional, self-help and personal growth programs.

Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis.

To be considered for the position, you must meet the following:

Basic Requirements:

Sisfactory completion of all the requirements for a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly reled to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.

NOTE: Applicants may have received this degree in either clinical or counseling psychology.

In addition to the basic requirements, you must have:

Experience:

At least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and complexity to the next lower grade level. To be creditable, this experience must have equipped the applicant with the particular qualificions to successfully perform the duties of the position, and th is typically be in or reled to the position to be filled.

Some examples of the qualifying experience are:

Experience in consulting with management officials on classificion of inmes displaying possible emotional problems.

Experience in supervising the suicide prevention program, including investiging all suicide tempts and self-mutilion gestures and recommending changes in the overall program.

Experience in managing the Employee Assistant Program including providing assessment and referral to professional resources in the community.

Experience in providing supervision to staff in the Psychology Department which may include psychologists, technicians, specialists, support staff, students, contract employees and volunteers.

Although 5 U.S.C. 3307 established a maximum entry age for original appointment to a position in a Bureau of Prisons institution, Applicants can be considered up to age 39 . The representive re for this position is $127,643 per annum ($61.17 per hour).

Special Conditions of Employment Section:

Initial appointment to a supervisory/managerial position requires a one-year probionary period.

The incumbent is subject to geographic relocion to meet the needs of the agency.
