Position Summary:
Under direct/indirect supervision, enforce the law, provide service, information and aid to all citizens as circumstances require, prevent crime, suppress disturbances, investigate criminal offenses and arrest offenders. Responsible for enforcement duties for the protection, safety and welfare of patients, staff, visitors and all property within the area under the control and jurisdiction of the Ector County Hospital District dba Medical Center Health System. Exercise independent judgment within the limits prescribed by law, Rules and Regulations of the Board of Directors for the Ector County Hospital District and the Chief of Police departmental policies and procedures. In the absence of the Sergeant/Captain, oversees day-to-day activities on a specific assigned shift. Demonstrates the ability to participate in team building, officer safety and support leadership.
Qualifications:
A. Education:
1. High School graduate or equivalent.
2. Texas Peace Officer Commission with Intermediate Certification
3. Must have been employed for a minimum of two (2) years with police service at ECHD PD.
4. Valid Texas driver’s license required.
5. Must maintain Mental Health Peace Officer Certification
6. Must maintain Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
7. Must be able to qualify for Texas Motor Vehicle Insurance.
B. Training and Experience:
1. Must be able to use a computer, two-way radio, and telephone.
2. Must be able to render credible testimony in a court of law.
3. Must have leadership and supervisory skills along with excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
5. Be able to follow written and oral instructions.

1. Must have visual, auditory and olfactory acuity.
2. Requires lots of standing, walking and climbing.
3. Must be able to work under stressful conditions with varying work hours and shifts.
