Job Description and Duties
Duties include operating a radio console, transmit and receive radio traffic, document information in CAD or on cards, dispatch appropriate personnel and resources, answer emergency and non-emergency calls from the officers, public, media and allied agencies, use of computer equipment, access information, enter and update into various data bases, monitor and utilize communications related equipment, maintain related logs and files, sitting/standing for prolonged periods of time, work various shifts, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime- as needed. Consistently report to work on time with a minimum of absences.

STCC is on the 3/12 alternate work week with seniority signups. The communication center is located at the Stockton Area office.

Incumbents currently in the classification who are eligible to transfer shall upload a completed and signed CHP 220N, Request for Transfer-Nonuniformed, form to this job control. The most senior same-class transfer applicant who responds by the final filing date shall be selected. CHP 220N link:
This position requires the ability to type at a minimum speed designated on the Classification Specifications (link available in the minimum requirements section). You must obtain a valid typing certificate confirming your ability to meet the minimum typing speed prior to being hired. Additional information regarding acceptable typing tests:
Possession of Minimum Qualifications will be verified before appointment. To satisfy the minimum qualification requirement with education, you must include your unofficial transcript(s)/diploma for initial review. Original diplomas or official, sealed transcripts will be required before the start date. Applicants with foreign transcript(s)/degree(s) must provide a third-party transcript/degree credential evaluation that indicates the number of units to which the foreign coursework is equivalent.
The CHP utilizes their own Public Safety Dispatcher certification list. Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications for the Public Safety Dispatcher classification to be eligible to take the examination. To obtain certification list eligibility, please view the examination bulletin link and follow all instructions. In addition to applying for the examination, applicants MUST submit an application to this Job Control to be considered for the position.
