A Bureau Chief in the law enforcement industry oversees the operations of a specific department or bureau within a law enforcement agency. They are responsible for the administration, planning, and direction of their department's activities. The necessary certifications include a degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or a related field. Depending upon the specific requirements of an agency, certification from the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Academy or similar may be required. Experience ranks high for this role; therefore potential candidates would have held roles such as Police Officer, Sergeant, and Lieutenant before stepping into the role of a Bureau Chief.
