Commanding Officer Jobs in Florida

A Commanding Officer in the law enforcement industry oversees the operations of a law enforcement unit, ensuring all activities are in line with the department's policies and the law. They are responsible for managing the personnel under their command, making critical decisions in high-pressure situations, and coordinating with other departments or agencies as necessary. Duties may also include developing and implementing strategic plans, managing budgets, and conducting performance evaluations.

They should also hold a Police Officer Standards and Training (POST) certification or equivalent, and preferably, a degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field. Prior to becoming a Commanding Officer, a person may have roles as a Patrol Officer, Sergeant, or Lieutenant within the law enforcement industry.
