Correctional Rehab Officer Jobs

A Correctional Rehab Officer, also known as a Correctional Treatment Specialist, works within the law enforcement industry to develop rehabilitation plans for incarcerated individuals in order to reduce recidivism rates. They assess the needs and risks of prisoners, provide counseling and create treatment plans which may include education, vocational training, or substance abuse programs. These professionals also play a crucial role in parole and probation processes, as they compile reports that impact decisions on an inmate's release or conditions of parole.

Essential skills for Correctional Rehab Officers include strong communication and interpersonal skills, decision-making ability, and emotional resilience. They are usually required to have a bachelor's degree in criminal justice, social work, or a related field. In addition, many employers prefer candidates with certification from recognized bodies, such as the American Correctional Association. Prior to becoming a Correctional Rehab Officer, individuals might work as a Correctional Officer, Probation Officer or even as a Social Worker, gaining valuable experience in the law enforcement and social services fields.
